About Shadow Guard
Guild Charter
Shadow Guard is an Everquest II Guild on the Unrest server that aims to have every member under one solid guild no matter if you like to play in a group environment or if you're more interested in raiding. Players who are at least level 50 that enjoy grouping, questing, tradeskilling and casual raiding will find their home in Shadow Guard.
Shadow Guard is also home to a serious raid force without hardcore restrictions, call lists and excessive scheduling. The overall goal is simply to have fun while maintaining a friendly, family-like, and casual atmosphere to promote grouping along with making new friends. If you think this all sounds like a good fit for you, please contact an officer in game or register on our website.
New Member Information
Shadow Guard Ranks & Hierarchy
- Leader - There will be 3 Leaders for Shadow Guard. Their primary role is directing guild policy, providing arbitration, and overseeing guild operations. Each leader will be assigned specific tasks to oversee, but can provide input on any other task/duty. Leaders will vote on, create, and/or appoint other officers. All decisions made by leaders should be done via a vote, with a majority winning.
- Officer - There will be at least 4 officers in Shadow Guard. These positions will be appointed and assigned duties by the leaders to handle the day to day activities of Shadow Guard to include updating the guild MoTD, maintaining raid points, keeping raid roster status accurate, lead raids, recruiting, and ensuring all members follow the guild rules. All officers are expected to fill in for another officer if one is missing, handle any recruitment questions, and help and inform/advise Leaders when needed. Officers will also evaluate recruit performance and give honest evaluations of performance to leaders and officers. Additionally, all officers will moderate any dispute that might need officer intervention.
- Leader/Officer Alt - This rank is for Officers to place their alts in a rank that have almost the same rights as their main and also helps keep their mains from their alts in the guild window.
- Raider -
As a raider, you are held to a higher standard than other members.
You will have to pick one character as your “Main” in which will be your primary character for raiding and gearing up. Acceptance into the raid force depends upon availability and raiders may have to sit (see below) out a raid if there are too many of one class, too many people in the raid, or other factors.
To become a raider you must apply in the appropriate place in the guild forums.
To be accepted you must pass a vote by a majority of the officers; you must meet or be working diligently toward minimum raid requirements (see below); must be able to meet minimum attendance requirements.
Both recruit and members applying to the raid force under go the same evaluation standard.
Any questions or concerns should be brought to the attention of the Raid Leaders.
Any raider who is demoted to back to member status may reapply for raider as per above. - Raid Applicant -
Raid Applicants are those who have applied for the raid roster and are undergoing their application period.
Raid Applicants should stay in touch with raid leaders on their
progress towards meeting the requirements.
- Members -
Shadow Guard promotes grouping, instancing, the freedom to play the
game as you choose, and to have a real life and as such this rank
represents all mains of members that are not specifically tagged as
raiders.
If a Member is available on a sanctioned raid night and meets the gear requirements for raiding and is interested in filling a raid spot, the member is eligible to place an invite request to the raid leader. Participation in the specific raid is at the discretion of the raid leaders. A member will earn RP and can bid on loot (see raider section below).
All Members are eligible to participate in guild fun raids based on target level such as the Friday Fun Raid, zone flagging raids (such as Levi or VP), gear farming raids (like WoE, or KTx2), and/or mythical update raids. Additionally, all Members are encouraged to organize Fun Raids for the entirety of the guild and schedule them on the website to avoid conflicting times.
All Members have access to the Guild Calendar to set up instance runs, HQ Nights, Quest runs using the Hunters Commune forum thread as a link to their scheduled event.
If a Member has not logged into game in over a year they will be removed from the guild and are welcome to re-apply upon returning to game. However, if a Member is going to be away from the game and advises Leadership on the forums, they will not be removed. - Alts - Upon promotion from recruit all characters not tagged as Members (Main) or Raiders (Main) are promoted to Alts rank. Should a Member wish to change their main character to that of an alt, contact a Leader in game.
- Recruits -
New members will be tagged as this rank until they meet the minimum guild requirements.
After meeting the minimum guild requirements and at officer vote, they will be promoted to member if there are no personality conflicts, drama, questionable acts, or other issues.
Recruits will have restricted bank access.
Recruits may attend any “unofficial” events.
At the discretion of raid leaders, recruits may also attend official raids, and will earn RP and can bid (see raid section below).
Joining the Ranks
Membership
Shadow Guard has an application process that must be submitted by all prospective members. We prefer to accept only adults 18+, but some exceptions can be made on a case by case basis if another Shadow Guard member vouches for the applicant.
All applicants will go through a two day waiting period where their application will be reviewed, an interview will be conducted by the Recruit Officer and/or their representative and additional information may be obtained.
From the time your application is accepted, you will be considered a recruit of Shadow Guard and in addition to being tagged as a Recruit, you will be given full access to the website. You will remain in recruit status until you:
- accumulate 30,000 guild status points and
- go through the 14 day probationary period and
- do not receive negative feedback from current members and
- do not violate the charter and/or raid/guild etiquette and
- receive approval from an Officer Vote.
As a recruit, you are responsible for getting to know the current Guild members, reading the Guild Charter, becoming familiar with the website and community forums. As a Recruit, you are also eligible for submitting a Raider Application.
Shadow Guard is an exceptionally social guild - frequent planned activities, group and raid opportunities are available. We like to hunt together. Participation in Guild activities and interacting with Guild members not only helps the Guild form an opinion of you, but also affords you an opportunity to feel confident in your decision to apply to Shadow Guard.
After successful graduation from the applicant period, you will be tagged with Members rank. Once you have reached Members rank you will be eligible to have additional characters tagged as Alts.

What is Shadow Guard Broker?
SGBroker handles the commerce related to Teir 9 Masters & Mana's that are earned through raid or guild member donation. During any auction held by SGBroker, ALL members (Leaders, Officers, Raiders, and full Members) are considered the same. No preferential treatment will take place. The items will be available to the ENTIRE guild, following the auction process.
Shadow Guard Broker & You!
MASTERS & MANAS
- Only non-upgradable Masters will be accepted. If you are unsure if a Master is non-upgradeable, please consult wikia and Spell Upgrade Progression threads within the Armory.

- A minimum bid of 5plat is required, however if you believe that someone will outbid you... bid higher! It is safest to bid the maximum amount you are willing to spend.
- In the event of a tie bid, SGBroker will contact all parties involved. Each bidder will /ran 500 with the highest roller winning the master for the tied bid amount.
- Items waiting to be put up for Auction will be held in GB4.

- Please give any non-upgradeable Master donations usable by a Guild Member to an Officer directly.

RAID MASTERS
- Masters looted during raids or donated to the RP Officer directly, will be bid upon by those attending the raid as regular raid loot. RP takes precedance over plat.
- Masters NOT assigned during a raid will be placed into GB4 to be held until the next SGBroker auction.
RAID MANAS:
- Manas generated from transmuted items during raid will be bid FOLLOWING the end of raid by the RP Officer.
- Any raider who does NOT stay in raid formation will NOT be eligible for bidding on generated manas.
- Any Manas not bid on will be donated to SGBroker, to be put up for auction during the next cycle.
- As T9 Mana is a priority for everyone, only ONE Mana may be won per member per two week auction cycle.
Shadow Guard Broker & ....the Broker!
If after two weeks a master or mana receives NO bids, they will be placed on the broker for a maximum sale point.
- If a guild member sees a master on SGBroker that they are interested in but had not placed a bid while on the forums, they need to contact a guild leader requesting the master be removed.
- Masters removed from the broker will be sold to a member for 45 plat.
- Mana removed from the broker will be sold to a member for 30 plat.
Rules of Conduct
General Rules of Conduct
All members are expected to act like adults and treat everyone with respect and decency. Avoid using inflammatory comments, F-bombs, GD-its, and the like in guild chat (in game) or in Ventrilo. We are a guild of friends and family and want to maintain that atmosphere. If it is mutually agreed upon, such language in private channels, group, Ventrilo, or any other chat is acceptable.
Attendance
If a Member has not logged into game in over a year they will be removed from the guild and are welcome to re-apply upon returning to game. However, if a Member is going to be away from the game due to military duty, hospitalization, relocation, etc and advises Leadership on the forums, they will not be removed. An officer shall make an appropriate note in the guild tool (in game) to this affect. Raiders have a different attendance requirement (see below).
Grouping
Whenever possible, attempt to group with other guild members. If you need a group try the guild first. You can’t be guaranteed a group or assistance with what you need help with, but guild members should try to make an effort for other guild members if possible. Please remember we’re all here to have fun, not just to level or equip your character.
When you are in a group with Guild Members, it is recommended to use "Need Before Greed" looting method. If you need an item for the character you are currently playing, roll NEED, otherwise roll GREED. It is also recommended to check with each other about which items they might need or what they are working on.
Shadow Guard Members are encouraged to use the SG Calendar if you want to work on specific quests, signature lines, heritage quests, epic weapon questlines.
Guild Communications
Shadow Guard members are expected to follow the rules for Ventrilo, Guild Chat, Website and Community Forums. We are a mature guild full of adults, but that doesn’t mean to go around being disrespectful to other members, flaming/attacking other guild members, or excessive cussing. While using Ventrilo, you can be warned, kicked, or banned for not following the rules or using disruptive phonetics and binds.
Conflicts, Disputes, and Resolutions
If you have a problem/disagreement you are expected to send a tell or e-mail to an officer for resolution. Do not flame in the forums. Leadership will work to resolve any dispute in a timely manner; however, due to real life and other obligations such resolutions may take time - please be patient. Every attempt will be made to be fair to all members but not everything can be resolved to your satisfaction.
Donation/Treasury
Running the web page and the Ventrilo server isn’t free. On our site is a link to make donations. Just a dollar or two every few months will help maintain this tool so vital to guild communication and fun.
