Raid Related Information
Becoming a Raider
All raid applicants will be considered based upon class needed for the raid force, player compatibility, skill level of the player, the character’s level of development, and other factors.
- Review the raider applicant minimum requirements (below)
- Select the character you want as your “main.”
- Complete the Shadow Guard Raider Application found under the raiders corner on the guild website.
- Contact a Raid Officer to let them know you’ve submitted an application for the raid force.
- Review the “stickied” forum topics in The Armory and prepare your “raid bag” accordingly.
- Sign in to Raid Ninja and schedule your availability for all upcoming raids.
- Register on the SG Raid Point site
Once you are selected as a raider you will have a one month probationary period. Your character will be considered a raider with all privileges of that rank, however, you will carry the “Raider Applicant” designation. During the month the following will be considered:
- Your progress will be monitored (looking at parses, attendance, working towards required AA, gear, mythical, etc,)
- If you are a good match for the raid force
- You follow direction well
- You communicate when necessary
At the end of this month leadership will vote to make your position permanent.
If leadership decides to not make your position permanent, you will remain a Member. You will be advised of the reasoning behind the decision and you may reapply if you address the issues outlined to you. If your reapplication is accepted, the one month probationary period will stand.
Raider Requirements
To help improve our raid force and to progress further into new content and future expansions, the leaders and officers have decided upon certain minimum requirements to strive for.
The overall goal of these changes is to strengthen our raid force. This is not a strict set of rules that you must obtain or you will be removed as a raider, rather this is a set of guidelines to be worked towards. However, the sooner these requirements are met, the better our raid force will become.
Raider- Be level 90.
- Have Mythical Buff, or be actively working towards it.
- Have 215 AA with TSO endline abilities.
- Being able to achieve 40% or more Critical Mitigation.
- Being able to achieve at least 10k in any given resist.
- All spells at Expert (Adept III) quality or better.
Note: If you would like to apply to the raid force, and do not meet the minimum requirements above, you may still apply as long as the condition are met prior to the end of your Raid App period. You must have a minimum of 175 AA before applying to be a Raider.
Attendance Requirements
To maintain your status as a Shadow Guard Raider you must maintain 50% attendance per month. Attendance percentages will be checked at the beginning of every month (for the previous month) and adjustments made if necessary. It is strongly suggested that Raider Applicants attend as many raids as possible during their 1 month probationary period. Excessive absences could disqualify you from being made permanent.
Acceptable Absence - Acceptable absences with 1 week's notice for business, military service, school exams, medical, and vacation will not affect your attendance percentage. If you know you will be out for an extended time let the raid leaders know through the "Drop Box". Please post in the notes section of Raid Ninja as a courtesy to the raid force if you will be unavailable regardless of the reason.
Unacceptable Absence - Unacceptable absences, even if posted, will count against your attendance. Unacceptable absences include missing raids for other activities in game (such as grouping, attending a different raid, etc), playing a different game, logging because you disagree with raid zone or raid leaders, or similar circumstances.
Demotion - If the raid leaders determine your 50% status has not been maintained, you will be demoted to Member. You may reapply for raider status. Only the most severe circumstance will preclude your application from being accepted.
Re-consideration - If for any reason you were not able to post prior to missing your attendance requirement and were demoted, but have a good reason why you missed the raids you may petition the raid leaders for your status to restored. For example: you were in an accident that put you in the hospital for a month and you were unable to post that you were out, you can petition the raid leaders, inform them of what happened, and they’ll review your situation.
Changing your Raid Main
If you desire to change your Raider Main, first determine whether your chosen character will meet the minimum raider applicant requirements. If so, notify Leadership and the Raid Officers through the "Drop Box" that you would like to change your main. They will discuss and determine if your switch will benefit the raid force. You may also be asked to help find and/or train your own replacement.
If you have a class that is “vital” to the raid, you may not be able to switch until a replacement is found.
Excessive changes in raid mains may also be denied. The goal of Shadow Guard raiding isn’t equipping all of your character’s in raid gear. There are opportunities to purchase loot at raids for your alts.
Raider Code of Conduct
Although we are a casual guild we need to exercise some guild discipline to enhance our raid capability and chances for success.
- Keep Ventrilo chatter to a minimum during pulls, strategy discussions, and other times when leaders or other people are communicating vital information.
- No sniping (name calling/insulting), swearing, or similar behaviour in Ventrilo or /raid, /gu, etc.
- During the raid the Raid Leader (s) are in charge and all raiders are expected to follow his/her directions. If you have a grievance with a raid leader (s) bring this to the guild leaders after the raid. Do not jeopardize your raid position by logging during the raid or by being insubordinate.
- If you have suggestions for strategies on the targeted mobs, feel free to offer them - on the guilds website in advance or with the raid leader (s) before or after the fight. During the raid is not the time to offer such advice.
- Raiders are expected to be familiar with the strategies posted in the Raid Zones and Tactics are of the web site. Questions, advice, knowledge, links, etc can all be posted there. Please avoid contacting raid leaders during a raid; there is usually time to ask pertinent questions after the strategy is discussed in game.
- Come prepared. You are expected to bring the required gear (expendables), deity miracles/blessings, repair kits (or bots), food and drink, potions, poisons, signets, adornments, resist gear, other gear that may be required for a specific mob (I.E. the Green Mist Orb to kill Leviathan or the Void Energized Amulet of Crystallization to freeze the Twins in PotA.)
Raid Schedule
Our Official Raiding Schedule is Sunday 8-11pm EST and Wednesday 8-11pm EST. That means you’re mended, ready to go at the zone-in or form-up location at start time. Raids will generally be resolved at stop time but there might be times where they might be extended up to 30 minutes. If a raid is extended, you are not required to stay but will earn bonus RP. This will not be a frequent occurrence.
- You will be considered late (and lose corresponding RP) if you are not at the proper location by raid start.
- You may not switch characters on your own accord. Do not show up at raids with anything other than your main. You may be considered late if you have to switch from on account to the other.
Earning RP (Raid Points)
RP Recording - Shadow Guard uses a raid point (RP) system for the purchase of raid loot. The RPs are recorded at every raid and new points are available at the end of each raid. You can view the current Raid Points system and Raider Standings by going to the Shadow Guard Raid Points site. Raid Points will be recorded by the RP officer and will be updated at the end of each raid and will be available for the next raid. It is your responsibility to check your RP before each raid on the website.
RP Awards - Raiders receive 1 RP per raid call. If you are present for the entire raid you will earn 1 extra point at the end. For example if the raid lasts 3 hours, you will receive 8 points (8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00) (8 points for each raid call). You must be ready (mended, at zone-in point, read strategies, with required consumables, etc) to receive the first point.
If we are not at a good stopping point at 11:00, again we will ask who would be willing to stay and we will try to achieve our goal. If at 11:30pm EST we will call the raid whether we have achieved our goal for the night or not. Aside from the normal raid calls, sign up in advance so we can plan the roster
Late Arrival / Sitting for a Raid - Raid Mains may be asked to "sit" for the raid if another Raider or a Member has been asked to fill the spot due to the main being late or if all slots are full for that evening. When a Raid Main is sitting for a raid, they may earn RP for making themselves immediately available to the raid by standing outside of the raid zone. Once each half hour, the RP officer will check to make sure you are at your keyboard and outside the zone. You will earn RP as if you were at the raid.
Decay of Raid Points - Raid points will decay at the rate of 1/10th your total original raid point total per month, for 10 months (at which time your RP total will be 0) if you have not attended a raid for a full month or if you have been demoted from raider to Member. These points are lost unless reinstated by a unanimous vote of the 3 guild leaders if there is a good reason that raids haven’t been attended (I.E. military duty, medical issues, etc). School, family obligations, extended vacations, leaving the game due to burn out, etc, all do NOT constitute reasons to reinstate RP.
Example: you have 100 RP and have missed 1 month and have been demoted to member. You will lose 10 points (1/10th your total RP value) the next month, 10 more RP the month after, and so forth.
The RP decay will stop once you reapply to become a raider and are accepted again.
Non Raider (Member) RP - Members may also earn RP for attending official Shadow Guard raids as if they were raiders. However, unlike raiders, members cap their RP at 45. Members RP will also decay like a raider’s if they do not attend a raid for more than a month.
All raiders and members gain 5 RP for their very first raid, which they may use at that first raid. Once this is depleted they may not bid for loot.
Negative RP - Negative amounts of RP are not allowed. You may not use RP being earned at the raid you are attending (I.E. you currently have 0 RP, you may not use the potential 8 RP being earned at the raid you are in).
Plat Bids - If no other raider, member, or person attending has RP to spend on a loot drop, but are interested in purchasing an item, plat may be used. A minimum of 5 plat, with the highest plat bid winning - the winner pays second highest bid +1.
Using RP
Shadow Guard will use a silent bid system so one officer will receive the tells, verify the bid, and announce the winner. Raiders will be allowed to bid on loot by sending a tell to the officer that is taking silent bids. When a bid is placed, the highest bid will win with the loot costing them the next highest bid +1 in Raid Points. The minimum bid for any item in raid is 5 Raid Points.
Bidding- A link provided in chat along with which officer will be taking bids on the item.
- A time limit will be provided in chat to send a tell to the officer if you are interested. If you need a second to check your Raid Points, let the officer know you are interested but you need a second.
- Loot will first be opened to the raid in the order below, and then offered to the guild.
- Once the bids are complete, the winner will be announced. If no bids are sent on a No-Trade item, then the item will be transmuted.
- The loot order will go in the following order, with priority going to those of the appropriate level for the gear:
- Raid Mains in the raid (or sitting) - RP Bids
- Members in Raid - RP Bids
- Raid Mains in the raid (or sitting) OR Members in the Raid - Platinum Bids
- Raider Alts (Raid Main in the raid) - RP Bids
- Member Alts (Members in the raid) - RP Bids
- Raider OR Member Alts (Raid Main or Member in the raid) - Platinum Bids
- Everyone Else currently in guild and on-line.
- Guest (guests would use platinum) in the raid/ Transmute
Abusing Raid Point System and Bidding - If a tradeable item drops or you are bidding for an alt, you are bidding to equip the item on your alt. Re-selling or transmuting is abusing the loot system and if caught will result in disciplinary action.
Two-Boxing
Two-boxing for raids is discouraged. Two-boxing can only be approved by the raid-leader; should it be allowed the following guidelines are to be followed:
- Only one character will earn RP (that is the “main character” of the person two-boxing.
- Only one character may bid for and receive loot.
- The boxed character will be dropped if a raid main or member needs or wants the slot taken by the boxed character.
Being asked to switch characters at a raid
If a raid leader asks you to switch your main character to an alt due to raid need, you may select which one of the characters you will bid for (but not both). RP accrued will be for the main account and RP will be drawn from that account for bids.
You may not switch characters on your own accord. Do not show up at raids with anything other than your main. You may be considered late if you have to switch from on account to the other.
If you are asked to switch, the character you switch to will be treated as a “raid main” instead of a member/alt.
Being asked to sit
In certain situations you may be asked to “sit” out a raid. If you are asked to sit by a raid leader you will:
- Earn RP as if you were at the raid.
- May bid on loot as if you were at the raid.
- Be asked to be available to return to the raid should a spot open for you
If you are not able to return to the raid or completely log out you will not RP for the raid and may only bid on loot when it opens to the guild.
Alts not in Shadow Guard
Any alts may be used, at the raid leaders request, whether the character is in the guild or not. It is the player contributing to the guild not the character. Your “main” must be in Shadow Guard, however.
